Corporate Landscape
Who bought who — the 2024–2026 consolidation
The laundromat tech space has consolidated sharply. Understanding the M&A matters because it affects pricing, product roadmap, and how long each company will exist independently.

2022
Cents raises $50M Series B
2024

Cents raises $140M Series C — largest ever in laundry tech
✓ Cents + LaundroWorks are now one company
Both quotes now use LaundroWorks — EL (Quote 297-5-8-26) includes LaundroWorks VAC kiosks + readers, and SQ (QTE29741, May 7) also includes LaundroWorks VAC kiosks + 72 readers + 5,000 smart cards. Regardless of equipment choice, you are on the same LaundroWorks/Cents platform reporting to the same dashboard.
⚠ PayRange is restricted on Speed Queen after June 8, 2026
Alliance Laundry Systems terminated PayRange's control-interface license for new Speed Queen machines. Part numbers PAYRANGE-124/125/126 are listed as "no longer available, no replacement" in Alliance's parts catalog. The litigation is ongoing (District of Delaware 1:24-cv-00733). If you choose Speed Queen, do not plan on PayRange for new machines.
System Profiles
What each platform actually is
Two distinct categories: full business operating systems (Cents, SpyderWash 2025) vs. payment-only hardware (ESD, CCI in self-service mode, PayRange). For a full-service attended store, you need the former or a hybrid.

Payment Methods Deep-Dive
Coin, card, NFC, app, kiosk — what each system accepts
The most important payment decision: app-required vs. optional
PayRange requires customers to download an app before they can pay. Every other system accepts card, NFC, or coin without requiring a download. For a laundromat serving a 36% foreign-born, 30% Hispanic demographic with many walk-in customers, app-required payment creates real friction — especially for older customers, those without smartphones, and first-time visitors. The data backs this: Cents/LaundroWorks kiosks allow payment in seconds with just a tap or card swipe, no account needed.

WDF & Pickup/Delivery support
WDF orders average $44/drop-off and $79/pickup-delivery — 80% higher. Getting this right from Day 1 is operationally critical.

Pricing
What it actually costs
Pricing transparency varies dramatically. SpyderWash and CCI publish some numbers; others require a sales call. All estimates are for a ~40-machine new-build setup.

SpyderWash processes per customer visit, not per machine cycle — a real advantage
SpyderWash's published rate is 2.99% + $0.15 per customer batch, not per machine use. A customer who runs 3 machines in one visit pays one $0.15 transaction fee — not three. For a busy store with customers running multiple loads, this is materially cheaper than per-cycle pricing. Cents uses Stripe (standard rates not published), so get both systems to provide a total annual processing cost estimate based on your projected volume before deciding.
Verdict
Recommendation for Eleven Laundry Company
Primary recommendation: Cents + LaundroWorks
  • Only platform with native WDF + P&D + machine payments in one login
  • Live Electrolux Clarus Vibe reference store (Wash Plus Laundry, Dec 2025)
  • LaundryCat NFC <1 sec tap — lowest friction for walk-in customers
  • AI customer service (Cents Assist) deflects 80% of calls — critical for first-time owners
  • Google Maps P&D booking — customers find you in search and book directly
  • Dynamic pricing AI — optimize turns during off-peak hours automatically
  • PJ Jackson (Laundrylux) can bundle LaundroWorks into Clean Funding equipment loan at 7.5%
Before signing: Get a full written quote (hardware + monthly SaaS + processing rate). Request a Spanish-language UX demo — your 30% Hispanic customer base makes this non-optional. Ask for a multi-year rate lock.
Runner-up: SpyderWash (if Cents price is too high)
  • Only system with published pricing — $49.95/mo + 2.99% + $0.15/batch
  • No app download required for loyalty — lowest walk-in friction
  • New 2025 dual-display WDF counter (industry first)
  • DoorDash P&D integration (2025)
  • Family-owned since 1968 — no VC pressure on pricing at renewal
  • Wireless Bluetooth readers — no network cables to run during install
Risk: WDF + P&D capabilities launched 2025 — less field-tested than Cents. Get a demo of the WDF attendant workflow specifically before committing.
Do NOT choose these for this store

PayRange + KioSoft

App-required payment creates friction for your walk-in demographic. No WDF, no P&D, no store-specific loyalty. Speed Queen machines legally restricted after June 8, 2026. Low hardware cost ($50) is illusory — you still need separate WDF POS.

ESD (standalone)

Best-in-class hardware reliability and EBT acceptance, but zero native WDF or P&D support. As a standalone system for a full-service attended store, ESD forces you to run two separate software platforms. EBT is its one unique advantage — worth combining with another system if your budget allows.

CCI (for WDF from Day 1)

CCI's LaundryCard is excellent for coinless self-service and offers processor flexibility. But ProLink is a bolt-on, not native WDF. If you are planning WDF from Day 1, CCI is the wrong starting point — save it for consideration when you grow to a second store where self-service payment is the primary need.
